Our Presentation

Hey guys! This is an entire presentation telling the story and our journey at 2nd Chance throughout the entire 6 weeks when we were with them. We had a lot of fun and unforgettable experiences with the children and learned many new skills! The whole experience was very intriguing and we had the opportunity to work with other interns who weren't from Monash and also from different fields of studies.     Your poster presentation was wonderful and very informative. I am grateful that both the students and the 2nd Chance Program benefited from this partnership.

    I was the previous manager of the 2nd Chance. I had the unique opportunity of working with other students of Monash University under the CE program. Your students always provided valuable contributions by identifying the gaps and introducing projects to address them. This library project is a great example of this. During my time there, our library was not well organized and it would be difficult to keep track of the books read by the children. Moreover, this is a new approach to encourage children to read, which is one of the most necessary skills and habits to overcome their struggles.

    It is always wonderful to see how the students from your program grow during their volunteer experiences. With their exposure to people of different backgrounds, such experiences enable them to become empathetic individuals and leaders who can use their professional expertise to improve society as a whole.

    Dear all, good job! As a direct supervisor for these wonderful students, I feel proud to see how they have grown in such short internship. The purpose of the internship to build empathy, dispel myths on HIV, teach to multitask and be more independent. As a future professional, this internship will be a great platform to help you to build personal skills and create a generation with empathy and be a game changer. These three interns been very hardworking, strong and enthusiastic throughout the internship period. They have assisted us in many ways and thank you for the modules and the library. The library is the heart of our learning center and WE LOVE IT! Good luck in your future undertaking. Now, you have been upgraded to the volunteer team. Do come and visit us! The kids misses you.

Under the CCE programme, we were tasked at the 2nd Chance program at PT Foundation. We worked there for 3 days a week as Academic Interns wherein our jobs were focused on tutoring the kids. Aside from planning our own projects, we were also blessed with the opportunity to work with Psychosocial Interns during the Outreach programme and on Sunday Tutorials. The children and mothers we met were as normal as you and me. You wouldn't have been able to tell them apart if you had bumped into them on the street. Maybe at home things were more difficult for them but during Sundays at PT,  it was a form of leisure and relieve from their everyday dilemmas. The kids enjoyed learning from the volunteers, staffs and interns whereas the mothers enjoyed the company of each other. That's all from us for now.
